Homo Faber 2026 – An Island of Light

Period: September 1–30, 2026
Venue: Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Venice, Italy
Organized by: Michelangelo Foundation

On the occasion of receiving the Homo Faber Guide Partner Award at the 2025 Cheongju Craft Competition, I will participate in Homo Faber 2026, taking place in Venice, Italy, this September. For this exhibition, I will present Cross Section of Fruit, a contemporary jewelry work that expands the traditional Korean technique of Jiseung, or paper cord weaving, using Hanji (Korean handmade paper). Thin, long strips of Hanji are twisted into cords and then woven together by hand to create a structured form, transforming a traditional craft technique into a contemporary visual and structural language for art jewelry. In Venice, you can discover new possibilities for traditional Korean materials and techniques as they are reinterpreted within the context of contemporary art jewelry.
